Abstract of the Project Proposal

The coming years, more construction works will take place on the railway networks. On days with construction works, the timetable needs to be adjusted. At this moment, this process starts several months before the day of operation and is finished around 4 weeks before the day of operation. The process starts with adjusting the basic hour pattern to an alternative hour pattern. This alternative hour pattern is a cyclic timetable of 1 hour and can be repeated throughout the day. Preferably, it is created such that the impact of the construction work on the quality of service and the regular operations is limited as much as possible. There is limited literature to construct such an alternative hour pattern. In our research project, we want to develop new models and algorithms for constructing these alternative hour patterns.
